Mathilde started her career in 1997 as registrar and legal assistant at the Court of Appeal in Amsterdam and became public prosecutor in 2002. She combined her work for the prosecution office with a part-time position at the department of criminal law at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. In 2010 she was appointed as a judge in the court of first instance Noord-Holland and since 2015 deputy appeal judge. Mathilde was also a lecturer in criminal law at the Dutch Training center for the judiciary (SSR).
In 2020 she moved to Curacao for a certain period. As she is temporarily not active as a judge in lawsuits in The Netherlands she is able to share her knowledge and experience and, at the same time, improve her skills on public law.
Mathilde joined HBN Law & Tax in 2022 as of counsel. She assists HBN Law & Tax in the areas of her expertise and acts at the interface between criminal law and administrative law.
Mathilde obtained her law degree at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and speaks Dutch an English.
