Thyla joined HBN Law & Tax in 2020 and advises corporations and financial institutions in cross-border and national corporate transactions including mergers & acquisitions and in general corporate and regulatory matters. She regularly advises clients in the Dutch Caribbean region on corporate law, financial regulatory and supervisory questions and assists clients in drafting and negotiating contracts.
Thyla is admitted to the common bar in Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, Saba and to the bar in the Netherlands.
Prior to joining HBN Law & Tax, Thyla worked for five years as a lawyer for De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek N.V. in the Netherlands. She has experience in mergers & acquisitions (controlled auctions, dual-track processes and one-on-one transactions) and has advised on both asset and share sale transactions.
Thyla also has extensive experience advising on all aspects of securities offerings, listings, delistings and compliance with ongoing financial markets regulation obligations. In addition, she worked on complex, cross-border arbitrations and the enforcement of international arbitral awards.
Thyla obtained her law degree at the University of Leiden and speaks English and Dutch.
