Jaryl Kanhai

Jaryl joined HBN Law & Tax in June 2023 and has a general law practice.

Jaryl graduated from the University of Groningen in 2017, with a Master’s degree in Dutch Private Law. During his studies Jaryl worked as:
– a legal advisor at a non-profit organization which provides legal advice
to tenants and landlords;
– a lecturer for first-year Dutch and International law students;
– an editor for a legal journal and;
– an external court lawyer in criminal law for the court of the Northern
Netherlands.
He also finished a research internship in liability law.

Jaryl started his career at the University of Groningen as a lecturer in criminal law, he then worked for the court of the Northern Netherlands as a (senior) court lawyer for more than five years, first in criminal law and then in civil law with a focus on matters of employment, tenant and general contract law.

In December 2022 and January 2023 Jaryl went to Surinam to join the project ‘Faster Civil Justice’ of the Surinamese Court of Justice in which he participated together with three Dutch appeal judges to help the Surinamese judges in writing judgements.
