The government of Aruba announced that the minimum wage will increase as of January 1st, 2023. The increase of the minimum wage also means an increase of the income threshold pursuant to the Labor Ordinance 2013.
The amount of the minimum wage will be adjusted to Awg. 1,893.40 per month and Awg. 441.60 per week for employees 18 years and older.
For employees who perform domestic work in households in service of natural persons the amount of the minimum wage will be adjusted to be Awg. 883.35 per month or Awg. 9.85 per hour for employees who work 22 hours per week or less as of January 2023.
Employers must adjust the wages of employees earning a minimum wage as of next year and also take into account that the Labor Ordinance 2013 will be applicable to employees earning up to Awg. 4,733.50 per month or Awg. 56,802.00 per year. Employees that fall under the scope of the Labor Ordinance 2013 are entitled to all employment conditions as prescribed by this Ordinance.
