Jonathan Steward

Jonathan is a seasoned litigator with more than a decade of experience and a practice focused on commercial litigation and dispute resolution. He advises and represents clients in complex disputes, particularly in relation to contractual, corporate and liability matters. In addition to his litigation practice, he advises local and international clients on a wide range of legal issues, including administrative law, insurance law and employment law.

Jonathan is known for his practical and strategic approach to dispute resolution, assisting clients in navigating legally and commercially sensitive matters. His work often involves cases that require careful analysis, strong advocacy, and a clear understanding of the wider business context.

He began his legal career at another Aruban law firm in 2011 and joined HBN Law & Tax in 2015.

Jonathan holds a Master’s degree in Dutch law from Maastricht University in the Netherlands, where he graduated with honors in 2011 from a program focused on civil proceedings. During his studies, he completed internships at several prominent law firms in the Netherlands, which further strengthened his interest in litigation and dispute resolution.

On 10 March 2025, he was elected Vice-Dean of the Aruba Bar Association, the professional body representing attorneys in Aruba, and serves on its board. In that role, he is involved in matters concerning the legal profession and its governance.

He is fluent in Dutch, English, and Papiamento.
