Peer Caljé

Peer acts as an external advisor to HBN Law & Tax since 2018.

Peer assists HBN Law & Tax in the areas of his expertise. He specializes in tax litigation both regarding the assessment of taxes and the collection of taxes (for example directors liability). He defends his clients in criminal cases if these are related to tax obligations and provides in-house courses on dealing with ‘dawn raids’. Peer serves both companies and their directors.

Peer is a partner in the Dutch law firm Andringa Caljé Advocaten in Rotterdam and is a specialized tax and criminal defense lawyer. He started his career in 2000 as a tax attorney with Clifford Chance in Amsterdam and has been admitted to the Dutch Bar Association since. Peer switched to the tax attorney’s firm Hertoghs in 2003 and soon after started his own practice specializing in tax litigation and white collar crime.

Peer regularly provides annotations to case law for different legal publications in The Netherlands. He lectures Moot Court at the University of Leiden and is appointed as a judge in the District Court of Noord Holland.

Peer has registered tax law and criminal law as his principal legal practice in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas. Based on this registration he is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in this legal practice areas in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar. Peer is a member of the Rotterdam Bar.

Peer obtained his Masters’ degree at the University of Amsterdam and speaks Dutch and English.
