SURINAME: Online VAT registration portal available

As of November 1^st, 2022, the online portal is available for the VAT registrations:
https://portaal.belastingdienst.sr/OPO/Gebruikersregistratie/account-aanvragen

 The following should be taken into account:    

1. Every taxable entrepreneur should register for VAT purposes, except those who are exempt;
2. In principle the subject referred to in point 1 will need to make an account on the website in order to register;
3. The language on the portal is ​currently only in Dutch. We understand that they are working on an English version of the portal;
4. Required information:

a.      Active e-mail address;

b.      Extract Chamber of Commerce or contract or permit;

c.      Identification ( ID or driver’s license or passport); and

d.      Bank account details if available.

5. After all required information in point 4 has been submitted, the Tax office will review these and provide you with the login details to be activated. This should be done within 72 hours. Upon approval, a certificate can be downloaded.

We do note that it will also be possible to assist with the registration on behalf of taxpayers. We still have to wait for further information with regard to the monthly compliance process.
